With all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it is easy to forget the reason we celebrate Christmas in the first place. Our never-ending “to-do” list continues to grow as stress increases over finding the perfect gift for that special someone. We become frantic wondering if there is enough money in the budget to create the perfect Christmas morning for our families. And we often find ourselves waking up New Year’s Day wondering where the time went and why we didn’t enjoy the holidays as much as we had hoped.
As Christmas approaches this year, we should be making a conscious effort to not only limit the amount of stress in our lives but to be very intentional about keeping Christ at the forefront of our celebrations.
Christmas is not all about the lights everywhere, consumerism and a jolly fat man in red. Christmas is about the birth of Jesus which represents the hope of mankind. “Born this day in the city of David, a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord,” the Angel of the Lord proclaimed.
It is not wrong to celebrate Christmas in the cultural way we do but let us not forget the true meaning of that very special day. Let´s keep Christ in our thoughts more than the gifts under the Christmas tree. Let´s thank God for sending His only begotten son on the earth to save us. Let´s share the Scripture about Jesus´ birth with our family members especially with the kids who must know the true reason to celebrate Christmas. During the Christmas´ season It is perfect time to ask ourselves why do we need Christ in our lives and what He really means for us. Merry Christmas!
